First Light: In the Valley of Fire, about 50 miles east of Las Vegas, the red rocks of the desert burn bright in the early morning sun.. I’m not much on formal campgrounds, but the 2 state park campgrounds nestled in the red sandstone formations of Valley of Fire, may be the most scenic I have seen.
